While Robert Schumann’s "Spanische Liebeslieder" undoubtedly influenced Brahms’ instrumentation, the true inspiration behind Brahms’ beloved "Liebeslieder Waltzes" was Schumann’s daughter, Julie (an amorous infatuation of Brahms).
